"
I was intimidated when I arrived at Man Utd, a 16-year-old boy, surrounded by all these great stars.
I was also hit by injuries, in the end I never reached the height expected of me. I was happy to move on to France, to play in a new country; the Ligue 1 may not compare to the Premier League in terms of organisation but Nantes is a beautiful city and this is a homely club. I feel settled here."

"
I went to Man Utd too early.
I was 21 back then, now I'm 25 so obviously I'm more mature, my mental state is different. Of course the Premier League and Ligue 1 are also different in nature, the English game is tough and a lot about speed and transition whereas in France there's more emphasis on technique and control."
—Memphis Depay on his coming-of-age since leaving Man Utd for Lyon
+9 – Lyon have a goal difference of +9 after their first two games in Ligue 1 this season (9 goals scored, 0 conceded), a record for a top-flight team at this stage of the competition since RC Paris in 1959/60 (also +9). Fangs. @OL_Englishpic.twitter.com/helxpsq2tR

"
When you’re confident you can enjoy your football.
I worked with Leonardo Jardim at Sporting, he knows my qualities, he knows how to use me and give me confidence, so when Monaco came calling it's no-brainer."
